SINA is a strategy and communications agency that turns big ideas into reality. We help organizations imagine, build and communicate new systems for economic and social mobility that match the complexity and urgency of our times. Our clients span philanthropies, industry associations, funder collaboratives, institutions, nonprofits and impact-minded companies — and like the issues they focus on, our work doesn't fit neatly into any single sector or category. That's by design.
From incubating and launching new initiatives to building the brands, narratives and platforms that carry them forward — we work across the full arc of an idea. Day to day, that means a focus on strategic counsel, messaging and positioning, content strategy and creation, digital and social channel management, and stakeholder activation. In every engagement, we help clarify complex information, move audiences to action and position our clients as leaders in the learning and workforce development ecosystem.
Agency Values and Employee Attributes
Commitment to Excellence: We set high standards for our work, refine our approach based on feedback and celebrate successes.
Strategic Thinking: We anticipate opportunities and challenges, using insights to guide our decisions.
Creativity and Innovation: We approach challenges as opportunities to think outside the box, explore new ideas and push our boundaries.
Passion for Learning: We are curious, growth-oriented and committed to staying ahead of trends in our industry.

We’re hiring a Senior Director who can step into a largely autonomous role from day one. As SINA expands its client portfolio, we need someone who can take ownership of both the relationship side of those accounts and the quality of the deliverables behind them — without requiring significant ramp-up time or oversight. The ideal candidate has deep experience in strategic communications and project management; familiarity with the workforce development, skills and education sectors; and a proven track record managing both client relationships and people. This role will also directly manage junior team members.
We believe that every job should offer opportunities for the expertise you already possess to shine, as well as provide the chance to continue building and expanding your skillset through new responsibilities. The nature of strategic communications means that your ongoing daily activities may change regularly, and we hope you’re excited about the chance to join a small and growing team. Some regular travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities and Estimated Time Breakdown
Client Relationship Management and Account Leadership (40%): Serve as the senior, day-to-day lead for a portfolio of high-value clients, including newly onboarded accounts, with minimal oversight. Own client relationships end to end: setting strategy, managing expectations, identifying growth opportunities and ensuring all deliverables meet SINA’s quality bar.
Senior-level Strategy and Content Development (30%): Connect dots across workforce, education and philanthropy to identify trends and develop a POV on where the space is heading. Create and oversee sophisticated content across formats and channels, including narrative development, op-eds, insights reports, strategic messaging frameworks and executive thought leadership.
People Management and Team Leadership (20%): Directly manage staff supporting an array of clients. Set priorities, review work, provide coaching and ensure the team is delivering high-quality, on-time work across accounts.
Industry Engagement and Business Growth (10%): Represent SINA at industry events and in sector conversations. Support new business efforts through proposal development and scoping conversations, and identify opportunities to expand SINA’s footprint with existing and prospective clients.
Requirements
Experience and Education: At least 10 years of experience, with client-facing agency experience preferred, plus direct experience managing or supervising staff. Proven track record independently owning client relationships and leading teams with minimal oversight. Bachelor’s degree is not required.
Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of education, workforce development, philanthropy and/or social impact. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client accounts, projects and people simultaneously, with a focus on results and meeting deadlines.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, from junior staff to senior clients. Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and make decisions independently.
Travel: Periodic travel (1-2 trips quarterly) for client meetings, strategic planning sessions and industry events will be required.
Personality Traits: Creative, growth-minded, self-motivated and comfortable operating with autonomy in a remote environment. A strong leader who can build trust quickly with both clients and team members.
